Christmas 2011

Well, after a long delay - another update to the blog !

We got back from the US fine over the August bank holiday weekend and straight back into UK life - work, school etc. Since returning Ella has been to Footsteps twice for 3-week sessions, and had constant regular physio in between. We've started seeing some great improvements, she can now stand with both heels down, and straight legs holding onto something for over 5 minutes and now has the confidence to try and stand alone and has managed it for 3 seconds !

We know we still have a long way to go but now she doesn't have pain when she stands she's pushing herself more and more and making progress from week to week.

We'd like to thank everyone who's supported Ella and us on her incredible journey, something we could only have dreamed of this time last year and wish you all a very merry Christmas !

Welcome to Ella's Wish to Walk Website

Hello!

My name is Ella Gilbert and I am 4. I live in London with my Mummy, Daddy and little sister.  I have spastic diplegia which means that the muscles in my legs are very tight and when I move them it feels like I am walking through thick mud.

Because it’s so hard I have never taken a step on my own, I always have to use my green walking frame or crawl on the floor to get around.

I have been accepted for a special operation in America which will take away the tightness from my legs and give me a chance of walking on my own but it costs a lot of money and I will have to have lots of physiotherapy afterwards.

Daddy says we need £60,000 for the operation, the trip to America and the physiotherapy.

Please help my wish to walk come true.

Love
